Differences between protocol and review

Only postpartum haemorrhage was kept in as a primary outcome. The remaining primary outcomes in protocol were moved to secondary outcomes. Some additional outcomes reported by included studies which were not prespecified in the protocol for our review were considered to be clinically relevant and have therefore been added as secondary outcomes. These additional outcomes are as follows.

  • Blood loss: estimated blood loss recorded during and immediately after caesarean section.

  • Wound infection: presence of purulent or serous wound discharge with induration, warmth and tenderness (not prespecified).

  • Urinary tract infection: clinical signs plus identification of micro‐organisms of 105 on culture.

  • Operative time: duration of operative time.

The methods have been updated to reflect the latest Handbook (Higgins 2011).

PICO

Population

Comparison
Outcome
