Differences between protocol and review

Analysis: Meta‐analysis was not undertaken in the review due to the heterogeneity of the studies.

Terminology: In the protocol different terms for OIHD were used leading to confusion. In the review only OIHD was used.

We clarified our inclusion criteria in types of studies to state that we considered randomised controlled trials (RCTs) and quasi‐RCTs for inclusion and that we included parallel or cross‐over trials. We did not include controlled clinical trials that did not fulfil the criteria for quasi‐RCTs.

We amended our method for Assessment of reporting biases in the Methods section of this updated review to take into account the definition of reporting bias and the methods available to detected in as given in the Cochrane Handbook for Systematic Reviews of Interventions (Higgins 2008).

We clarified how heterogeneity was assessed in the Methods section of the review.

We clarified the inclusion criteria and have stated more clearly throughout the review that we include only primary prevention studies and not studies where participants had existing OIHD, unless the participant population was mixed and disaggregated data was presented for those participants who were healthy with no OIHD at the start of the study.

PICO

Population
Intervention
Comparison
Outcome
