Our motivation for undertaking this review is to systematically review the effect of modest cooling therapies on outcome after traumatic brain injury to learn from previous experience in this area and understand the evidence available at present. We believe a randomised controlled clinical trial assessing the effect of high dose paracetamol and head fanning on outcomes after traumatic brain injury (and stroke) may be warranted and are seeking to clarify the currently available evidence in advance of proceeding.
