Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews Protocol - Intervention

Diaphragm‐triggered non‐invasive respiratory support for preventing respiratory failure in preterm infants

This is not the most recent version

Abstract

This is a protocol for a Cochrane Review (Intervention). The objectives are as follows:

To assess the effectiveness and safety of diaphragm‐triggered non‐invasive respiratory support on neonatal outcomes in preterm infants (< 37 weeks' gestation) when compared to other non‐invasive modes of respiratory support (NIPPV, nCPAP, HFNC).

Effectiveness and safety will be assessed for all other non‐invasive modes of respiratory support. Preterm infants with birth weight less than 1000 grams or less than 28 weeks' corrected gestation at the time of intervention will be analysed as a sub‐group. We will also assess effectiveness and safety based on the indication for respiratory support.
