This is a protocol for a Cochrane Review (Intervention). The objectives are as follows:

To evaluate the efficacy and safety of supervised dosing therapy with a long‐acting opioid medication compared to non‐supervised dosing in opioid dependent people, in modifying abstinence and retention in treatment.
