Urine lateral flow lipoarabinomannan assay for diagnosing active tuberculosis in adults living with HIV

This is not the most recent version

Abstract

This is a protocol for a Cochrane Review (Diagnostic test accuracy). The objectives are as follows:

Primary objectives

Our primary objectives are:

  1. To assess the accuracy of the urine LF‐LAM assay for the diagnosis of active TB disease in adults with HIV who are thought to have TB, at different cut‐off values for test positivity.

  2. To assess the accuracy of LF‐LAM used as a screening test for active TB disease in adults with HIV, at different cut‐off values for test positivity.

The role of urine LF‐LAM assay could be a replacement test for sputum smear microscopy or sputum Xpert® MTB/RIF or an add‐on test to sputum smear microscopy or sputum Xpert® MTB/RIF.
