This is not the most recent version

Abstract

This is a protocol for a Cochrane Review (Intervention). The objectives are as follows:

To evaluate the effectiveness and safety of the traditional surgical techniques for treating PE, encompassing skeletal resections (costal cartilages with or without sternal osteotomies) with or without retrosternal support compared with minimally invasive surgery (the placement of a retrosternal bar without skeletal resection).
