This protocol has been withdrawn. It was published in 2010 and does not currently ask a pertinent question for people on antiretroviral drugs. In terms of the drug effects, most of the drugs reviewed here have been superseded; and as for cardiovascular effects of ageing in people on long‐term antiretroviral drugs, most clinicians and authorities would depend on trials in general populations.
