This is a protocol for a Cochrane Review (Intervention). The objectives are as follows:

To assess the effects of mobile phone messaging reminders for attendance at scheduled healthcare appointments on outcomes including understanding and appointment attendance by the patient. Secondary objectives include assessment of acceptability, patient and clinician satisfaction, safety and costs of mobile phone messaging reminders for attendance at scheduled appointments.
