This is a protocol for a Cochrane Review (Intervention). The objectives are as follows:

To determine the benefits and harms of one‐to‐one oral hygiene advice, provided by a member of the dental team within the dental setting, on patients' oral health, hygiene, behaviour and attitudes compared to no advice or advice in a different format.
