This is a protocol for a Cochrane Review (Intervention). The objectives are as follows:

To investigate the effectiveness and harms of therapeutic touch (Krieger 1997) with one or a combination of the following:

(1) Sham (mimic) TT.
(2) Pharmacological therapy.
(3) Psychological treatment.
(4) Other treatment.
(5) No treatment or waiting list.
