This is a protocol for a Cochrane Review (Intervention). The objectives are as follows:

To determine the effectiveness of in‐patient comprehensive geriatric assessment (CGA) for frail older adults admitted to hospital as an unplanned emergency in comparison to routine or general medical acute care in hospital.
