Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews Protocol - Intervention

Antiplatelet agents for intermittent claudication

This is not the most recent version

Abstract

This is a protocol for a Cochrane Review (Intervention). The objectives are as follows:

The primary aim will be to determine the effect of antiplatelet agents in reducing vascular mortality and cardiovascular events (myocardial infarction and stroke) in patients with stable intermittent claudication (Fontaine stage II) (Fontaine 1954).

In addition, where data exists, the efficacy of antiplatelet agents in reducing total mortality, improving ankle brachial pressure index, improving treadmill walking distance, preventing progression to surgery, benefits on quality of life, and side effects of these drugs will be assessed.
